Electronic health record (EHR) software streamlines the clinical activities and operations of hospitals, medical institutions, and other such healthcare providers. EHR software is designed to digitally collect and store all information pertaining to a patient’s medical record and history such as patient profile, demographics, diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, laboratory and test results, radiology images, allergies, immunization dates, and more.

Also often called electronic medical records (EMR), EHR software facilitates a paperless system where patient information can be stored at multiple locations and shared to all providers involved in a patient’s care. This allows EHR data to be created and managed by more than one doctor, or health care organization. When the patient is transferred to another location and other health care provider, the EHR data can be moved and consulted on by new or different doctors and specialists.
