To recap, Bitcoin (BTC) is the first decentralized cryptocurrency (created in 2009) and currently the largest of more than 1,000 known cryptocurrencies, with a market cap of about $140B USD as of the beginning of February, 2018. That represents more than a third of the nearly $400B total market cap of all cryptocurrencies tracked by CoinMarketCap.
