Why trying to "Measure everything" will lead to "Measuring nothing"

Plenty of SaaS companies jump into the world of data without having a clear plan, only to give up very shortly after when the expenses of collecting the data outweigh the benefits.

So, how can this be avoided?

Hey Tzipi! Thanks for sharing!

I've made the mistake of tracking vanity metrics. It took so much of my time and at the end of the day, there were other metrics that were getting buried in the noise of measures such as traffic and total blog reads. Although these are important to measure the pulse of a business, I totally agree with the value rule: "Think which metrics and KPIs will bring the most value, figure out which data is needed to calculate those, only then start tracking."

Samantha, thank you for your feedback! Acquisition metrics are important, but they can also be misleading. It's important to look at them by looking at the bigger picture, checking the full funnel how they convert into long-term paying users. Which is exactly what's important for us to get SaaS companies to be able to do with our dashboards.
