Federated learning could solve medicine’s biggest AI obstacle

Medicine has always made sense as a logical field for AI disruption. In 2017 Google introduced Federated Learning (FL), “a specific category of distributed machine learning approaches which trains machine learning models using decentralized data residing on end devices such as mobile phones.” But there were a number of obstacles (as with adoption of any new technology) to its widespread and successful adoption. With federated learning, Google may have solved that problem.
