We tend to think of User Onboarding as something that applies to the first user experience. However, onboarding techniques prove to be just as valuable when applied throughout the customer lifecycle.

Great post! I especially liked this part: "User onboarding is about more than the first user experience, and it’s about more than upgrades and retention. It’s about approaching your product with a philosophy that the more users learn and discover, the more value they will get from a product." I recently read an article that went so far as to call onboarding an "infinite" process. It's certainly vital to SaaS success that we not limit ourselves to focusing on onboarding in only the initial user experiences.
